Our full grain leather is rich in character and the surface is natural, not sanded or altered. This means you may see naturally occurring small scars, creases, and striations. These minor markings are not flaws - they are features and a hallmark of quality leather.

The leather also has natural color variation. No two hides are identical. So you may notice some color variation even among products that are the same color.

Like a fine wine, our leather gets even better as it ages, developing a rich patina. The leather is very durable but proper care and maintenance is recommended. We offer a specially formulated all-natural leather cream that works wonderfully with our leather.

What Makes a Quality Leather Product?

We use full grain leather made from strong North American steer hides - the best you can get. Learn how our products are made.

We use solid brass hardware with antique finish. A premium old-school rarity not used by most bag makers.

We use heavy gauge bonded thread to make our leather goods. It may be overkill, but that's what we do.

Agricultural Roots

I remember going to the local feed & seed store with my Grandpa Wayne when I was a kid. He always carried a little notebook like this one to keep track of his orders.

The story of the Field Notes Brand is pretty interesting. Their notebooks were inspired by historical agricultural notebooks.

I still like to take notes with a pen & paper. And there's no better way to do it than this little Field Notes Journal.
