Leather Quality: Full Grain
This handcrafted men's leather briefcase was inspired by vintage lawyer briefcases from decades ago. Made of full grain leather that's rich in character and solid antique brass hardware, this bag is built to last. Read the story behind the Esq. Briefcase below.
Our full grain leather is rich in character and the surface is natural, not sanded or altered. This means you may see naturally occurring small scars, creases, and striations. These minor markings are not flaws - they are features and a hallmark of quality leather.
The leather also has natural color variation. No two hides are identical. So you may notice some color variation even among products that are the same color.
Like a fine wine, our leather gets even better as it ages, developing a rich patina. The leather is very durable but proper care and maintenance is recommended. We offer a specially formulated all-natural leather cream that works wonderfully with our leather.
We use full grain leather made from strong North American steer hides - the best you can get. Learn how our products are made.
We use solid brass hardware with antique finish. A premium old-school rarity not used by most bag makers.
We use heavy gauge bonded thread to make our leather goods. It may be overkill, but that's what we do.
The Esq. Briefcase was inspired by the old school leather briefcases lawyers carried decades ago that stood the test of time.
As a young attorney, I would often meet older attorneys carrying battle-tested leather briefcases from a different era. These bags had stories to tell. Always made of full grain leather, they had a rich patina and unique character that immediately conveyed the right message.
When I designed this bag, I set out to make a purist’s briefcase without sacrificing modern convenience. If you walk into a courtroom with the Esq. Briefcase, you’ve already won.
And it’s not just for lawyers, customers of every kind carry the Esq. Briefcase.
