Leather Quality: Top 1%
This is a blemish item. Blemishes may include scratches that are a little deeper than normal, small spots or specs or other minor cometic anomalies. Most blemishes will not be noticeable to the casual glance. Only upon close inspection are they apparent.
These are not major blemishes that would be embarrassing to own. They are simply minor cosmetic blemishes that give the item a bit more "character" than normal. In fact, many of these blemishes could develop over time anyway through normal use.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with this item structurally and it is still backed by our warranty. We would never sell an item that doesn't function properly, so no need to worry about that.
So you are truly getting an incredible value at these prices if you don't mind a little extra "character". But we typically only have a few and may not get any more. They are sold on a first come, first served basis.
Blemish items are returnable under our return policy. We even include our standard free domestic shipping. But if you choose to return it, you will need to pay for return shipping.
Please note we do not have individual pictures of blemished items. To see the full description of this product and all regular photos, click here.
Our full grain vegetable tanned leather is rich in character and the surface is natural, not sanded or altered. This means you may see naturally occurring small scars, creases, and striations. These minor markings are not flaws - they are features and a hallmark of quality leather.
The leather also has natural color variation. No two hides are identical. So you may notice some color variation even among products that are the same color.
Like a fine wine, our leather gets even better as it ages, developing a rich patina. The leather is very durable but proper care and maintenance is recommended. We offer a specially formulated all-natural leather cream that works wonderfully with our leather.
We use 100% vegetable tanned full grain leather made from strong American steer hides - the best you can get. Learn how our products are made.
We use solid brass hardware with antique finish. A premium old-school rarity not used by most bag makers.
We use heavy gauge bonded thread to make our leather goods. It may be overkill, but that's what we do.
The Postmaster Messenger is named after my Grandpa Wayne, whose story you can read here.
He became postmaster of the small town he lived in and carried a leather mailbag with a similar look. When my grandmother described it to me and sent me a picture of him with it, I knew we needed to make that bag.
Built for high capacity and comfort, I have no doubt he’d rather have carried this one.
